Our first destination is Tam Coc, often referred to as the “Halong Bay on land” for its dramatic limestone formations and tranquil waterways. Here, we take a traditional rowboat for a two-hour journey, gliding through caves and past rice fields, with small villages lining the riverbanks.
Following a local lunch in Ninh Binh, we continue our journey to Pu Luong Nature Reserve. After lunch at a local eatery, we continue riding through forested paths toward Bac Yen township, where the true test of the day begins. We take on a steep, 12 km mountain climb, a demanding ride even on clear, dry days. This trail winds its way up to the iconic “dinosaur backbone,” a narrow ridge path just over a meter wide, with steep drops on both sides.
