What time of the year is the best time to ride in Vietnam?
Every season in Vietnam has its own beauty and unique colour to offer. Spring is from February to April and you will see different shades of green everywhere in the north. This is usually the best time to ride in Vietnam. Summer lasts for approximately 5 months through to the end of November. It is also the warm & wet season. The scenery in the mountains is both colourful and diverse and that is when the rice harvest takes place. September and October you will see incredible views of the rice terraces where the whole landscape turns yellow. The riding experience is so fantastic. Winter starts from mid November and lasts until early February. A bit cold sometimes. ( 15 to 25 celsius degrees ).

How much money ( Vietnam Dong ) should I bring on tour?
Our motorcycle tours are All inclusive, that means we pay for everything on tour except alcohol and personal purchases that you make. Just as a rule of thumb our experience has shown that you should carry approximately $100 to $200 US or equivalent in Vietnam Dong. However, this depends entirely on the length of the ride and is used mainly for your own personal souvenir shopping and alcoholic beverages. Bring more if you are big drinkers.
-
How far and how long should we ride each day?
That depends on which part do we tour. If we ride up north Vietnam then the distance of approximately 150-200 kms or 5-6 hours of riding is normal for trip lengths of 2 to 13 days. This also includes trip lengths of 14 days to discover the northern loop of Vietnam such as: Sapa, Ha Giang, Ban Gioc waterfall, Cao Bang, Ba Be lake …etc. Meanwhile the Ho Chi Minh trail tours provides longer distances of 200-300kms or 6-8 hours per day of riding with trip lengths of 10 to 14 days. ( Depending whether tour ends in Hoi An or Ho Chi Minh city.) . The roads in Vietnam are so narrow, busy and very twisty, average speeds are 40-60kmh. 350km is a LONG day in Vietnam, we schedule our rides to be safe and take time to enjoy the culture and amazing places along the routes.

In most cases yes! There is a minimum number of riders required to operate a scheduled motorbike tour. However, as our minimum amount required is only two riders in most cases we can fit you in a tour with other riders already booked, if not, providing you give us some notice we can take a reservation from you and open it up for others to join your tour thus making the minimum required number. At the end of the day be sure to contact us! Of course, the other way can be, that you have to pay surcharge price for solo rider.

Personal Medical Insurance?
This is the most important insurance that we recommend all riders to Vietnam to purchase it. It covers you when you have accidents and get injured. Luckily, you can buy this personal medical insurance policy from companies like Allianz, CHI, or World Nomads…or on the Lonely Planet website. They only request your country or international motorbike license. In this case, you will be fully covered if something happens.
