Day 1: Hanoi – Lang Son
After breakfast, we kick off your Northeast Vietnam Dirtbike Tour riding east toward Lang Son. Once we clear the morning rush, we leave the bustling energy of Hanoi behind, gliding through the Red River Delta as rice fields stretch out like shimmering mirrors in the early light.
As we approach Lang Son City, limestone mountains rise from the horizon, signaling the entrance to the northern frontier. We pause for a Vietnamese coffee break, letting the caffeine and fresh air fuel our spirits before exploring local historical sites, the bustling Dong Kinh Market, and the Huu Nghi Border Gate, where Vietnam meets China.
After a local lunch, we fire up our bikes again, leaving the smooth roads behind as we take on the winding ascent to Mau Son Mountain. The climb rewards us with sweeping views of misty forests and distant villages perched on hills near the border, standing 1,500 meters above sea level.
As the day winds down, we take time to wander around the remnants of colonial-era hill stations, capturing sunset photos over the rolling peaks before riding back to Lang Son City. We wrap up the day with a hot shower, a hearty dinner, and a restful night at a comfortable hotel—resting up for the rugged trails that await tomorrow on your Vietnam dirtbike adventure.

Day 2: Lang Son – Ban Gioc Waterfall
After breakfast, we squeeze in a quick stroll through Dong Kinh Market, Lang Son’s bustling trade hub connecting Vietnam and China. Here, everything from electronics to local textiles fills the stalls—perfect for a glimpse into everyday border life.
We wave goodbye to Lang Son and gear up for a rugged ride north through Dong Khe and That Khe, where winding country roads turn dusty and bumpy—just the kind of terrain that makes a true Northeast Vietnam dirtbike adventure worth every mile.
We roll into Quang Uyen, home to the Nung An ethnic minority, and share a hearty lunch in a local village. Fueled up, we push onward to the highlight of today’s ride: the majestic Ban Gioc Waterfall, one of Southeast Asia’s largest and most spectacular natural borders.
Feel the cool mist on your face as the roar of the cascading falls drowns out the hum of your bike—it’s the ultimate reward after a day of winding trails and scenic backroads. Tonight, we rest our heads in a cozy hotel near the waterfall, falling asleep to the sound of water crashing into jade-green pools—a memory that will stay long after the ride is done.

Leaving this majestic backdrop, we fire up the bikes for an exhilarating off-road dirtbike adventure. Today’s route challenges us with stream crossings, rugged trails, and sweeping mountain views—exactly what makes a Northern Vietnam off-road motorbike tour so rewarding.
The highlight of the day is Me Pia Pass, a serpentine marvel often called the “14-Level Pass.” Just 2.5 kilometers long but twisting like a ribbon in the wind, it delivers an adrenaline rush as you navigate its steep, tight switchbacks, each turn revealing dramatic mountain vistas.
By late afternoon, we roll into Bao Lac, a remote mountain town where the rhythms of ethnic minority life continue unchanged. Settle into your accommodation, swap stories from the trail, and enjoy a traditional dinner that tastes even better after a day of conquering the mountains.

Day 4: Bao Lac – Dong Van (The Ha Giang Loop)
Today’s ride is a highlight of your Northern Vietnam dirtbike adventure, combining rugged off-road challenges with some of the country’s most breathtaking mountain scenery.
We fire up the bikes and head for the DT217, a wild, unpredictable road that will test your skills with river crossings and muddy tracks in place of bamboo bridges. The trail leads us to Khau Vai, a village known for its remote charm, before we roll onto a bamboo raft ferry to cross the emerald waters of the Nho Que River—an experience that feels like stepping back in time.
After lunch, we take on the legendary Ma Pi Leng Pass, rising to 1,500 meters above sea level with the Nho Que River winding like a jade ribbon far below. Despite being only 20 kilometers long, Ma Pi Leng is rightly called the King of Passes, delivering hairpin bends and dramatic cliffside views that will leave your heart pounding and your camera working overtime.
By afternoon, we descend into Dong Van, a town where time seems to slow. Stroll along Pho Bang Ancient Street, with its clay-brick houses and tiled roofs, remnants of a bygone era still alive in the mountain air. Enjoy your free time to explore the market or sip tea in a local cafe, letting the day’s ride settle in before a well-deserved rest at your guesthouse in Dong Van.

Keep your camera charged and your handlebars steady—today’s ride is legendary.
After breakfast, we warm up the bikes and backtrack to a fork, heading north toward Lung Cu Flag Tower, the northernmost point of Vietnam. At 34.85 meters tall, this flagpole stands proudly against the vast mountain skies, marking the “roof of the Fatherland.” The view from here offers a sweeping panorama of green valleys and misty peaks stretching into the horizon.
The ride continues along the Dong Van Karst Plateau, a UNESCO Global Geopark and a true open-air geological museum with millennia-old rock formations and jagged limestone peaks. This stretch feels like riding on the spine of the earth itself.
We make stops at the Hmong King’s Palace, a historic fortress once home to the Vuong family who ruled the region, and Tham Ma Pass, with hairpin bends and stunning drop-offs that test your focus while rewarding you with epic views. The road then snakes down to Quan Ba Heaven’s Gate, where twin hills and endless limestone ranges unfold beneath a sea of drifting clouds.
You will see Hmong, Tay, and Dao villagers in colorful traditional attire, carrying bundles of firewood or chatting along the roadside, while children wave as we pass, disappearing into the mist and mountains.
As we descend from the highlands, the scenery becomes even more striking. The final stretch into Ha Giang City offers a chance to relax your shoulders and reflect on one of Vietnam’s most beautiful rides. Settle into your hotel, crack open a cold beer by the pool, and let your body unwind after another day of conquering the Ha Giang Loop on two wheels.

Day 6: Ha Giang – Vu Linh
After breakfast, we bid farewell to the faraway land known as “The bird flying twice to be broken its wings”, as we begin our descent from Ha Giang toward Vu Linh.
The first half of today’s journey offers a more relaxed pace, cruising along the wide, smooth stretches of Highway No. 2. Lush mountain ranges gradually give way to the quiet countryside, where rivers trace alongside the road and local life unfolds with farmers tending fields and children waving as we pass by. We will stop for lunch in Viet Quang town, recharging for the ride ahead.
In the second half, the route transitions into a scenic dirtbike exploration through rice paddies, bamboo groves, and sleepy stilt-house villages, where the hum of your bike blends with the calls of countryside life. The roads narrow, twist, and breathe adventure into the ride, making it a perfect dirtbike finale before reaching the serene beauty of Thac Ba Lake, one of Vietnam's largest man-made lakes.
At Vu Linh, the calm waters and scattered emerald islands provide the perfect backdrop for a refreshing swim or a peaceful boat ride to unwind your body after days of riding. As the day winds down, you’ll be welcomed by the warm hospitality of the Dao ethnic people in a traditional homestay, sharing stories over a hearty home-cooked dinner. Don’t miss out on tasting their local rice wine, a fitting toast to the near completion of your dirtbike adventure through Northeast Vietnam.

Sleep in a little longer this morning, enjoying a slow, homemade breakfast prepared with care by your Dao hosts—local pancakes, fresh bananas, and honey from the mountains. It’s never easy to say goodbye to such warm-hearted people, but the road home is calling.
Today’s ride is designed to avoid the chaos of busy highways for as long as possible. We continue our journey south, carving through quiet country lanes, with rice paddies stretching out under the morning mist and the hum of your dirtbike reminding you of the freedom of the past week.
We stop for lunch in Viet Tri town, savoring one last countryside meal before the final leg. We then follow Road No. 2B, a quieter, more scenic route that winds through tea plantations and sleepy villages before descending into the Red River Delta.
The roads today offer a final blend of smooth sections and light dirt tracks, letting you stretch out your last kilometers of riding before returning to city life. As we approach Hanoi, we time our arrival carefully to beat the notorious rush hour traffic, ensuring a smooth and safe return to the capital.
Your journey concludes around 4 PM, marking the end of your Northeast Vietnam Dirtbike Adventure with a head full of memories, a camera roll full of stories, and a spirit recharged by the wild beauty of Vietnam’s mountains.
