Day 1: Hanoi – Mai Chau
Your motorbike adventure begins at 8:00 am when our guide meets you at your hotel for a quick ride briefing. We aim to depart around 9:00 am, avoiding the city’s rush hour as we leave Hanoi behind and ride into the peaceful countryside.
Today’s route takes you along quiet back roads, with stretches of easy off-road trails passing rice paddies and small villages on the way to Mai Chau. It’s a chance to warm up your riding skills while taking in the green landscapes of northern Vietnam.
Upon arrival in Mai Chau Valley, you can relax with a cold drink by the pool, surrounded by the hospitality of the local Thai communities. Feel free to take a walk through the nearby village to observe daily life and learn more about local culture.
In the evening, we settle into a comfortable stilt-house homestay where you can rest and recharge for the days ahead. After dinner, you’re invited to join a traditional Thai dance performance, accompanied by a taste of the local rice wine, known affectionately as “Happy Water.”

Day 2: Mai Chau - Phu Yen
After breakfast, we gear up and leave Mai Chau, heading toward the Moc Chau plateau. Our first major stop is at Hua Tat Pass, where you can stretch your legs and enjoy views of mist-covered mountains and valleys, with terraced hills rolling into the distance.
We continue our ride and stop for lunch in Moc Chau, a highland town known for its tea plantations and cool climate. Afterward, we follow the quiet Road 43, a lesser-traveled route that winds through rural landscapes toward the Da River.
Crossing the river by ferry at Van Yen, we continue curving mountain roads leading to the peaceful town of Phu Yen. This stretch offers a mix of dirt tracks and paved roads, providing a genuine taste of riding in northern Vietnam.
The day concludes with a well-deserved dinner featuring fresh, locally sourced dishes, allowing you to refuel and relax after a fulfilling day on the road.

Day 3: Phu Yen - Ta Xua
Today’s ride is shorter but still offers plenty of challenges, giving you the chance to enjoy a relaxed morning over coffee and breakfast before we hit the road.
Leaving Phu Yen, we begin our off-road journey toward Ta Xua, known for its rugged peaks that rise to 2,865 meters above sea level. The ride takes us along dirt tracks and winding mountain paths, offering an authentic off-the-beaten-path motorbike experience in northern Vietnam.
After lunch at a local spot, we continue riding through forested sections toward Bac Yen township. From here, we face the toughest section of the day: a steep, 12 km climb up the mountainside, demanding complete focus even in dry conditions. This path leads us to the famous “dinosaur backbone,” a narrow ridge trail with steep drops on both sides.
Standing at the top of Ta Xua, you’ll have time to take in the sweeping views of clouds rolling across the valleys below—a valid reward for those who take on this challenging route. After capturing some photos, we head back to our accommodation, where you can unwind and rest by the pool after another memorable day on the road.

Accommodation: Ecolode

Day 4: Ta Xua - Hanoi
Start your final day with breakfast at the hotel. If the skies are clear, you might catch the sunrise over Ta Xua’s famous sea of clouds—a beautiful farewell to the mountains before heading back to Hanoi.
We leave Ta Xua and ride toward Lung Lo Pass, a route that offers both scenic mountain views and a piece of Vietnam’s history. This narrow pass was a critical supply line during the 1954 Dien Bien Phu campaign, making it an interesting stop for riders who appreciate both landscapes and history.
Our journey continues to Phu Tho, where we take a break for lunch at a local restaurant. Afterward, we follow more minor countryside roads, avoiding busy highways as we approach Hanoi. This route allows you to enjoy the quiet rural scenery on your last ride of the tour.
We aim to arrive at your hotel in Hanoi before the evening rush hour, marking the end of your 4-day northern Vietnam motorbike adventure on a safe and relaxed note.
