Day 1: Hanoi - Mai Chau
Our local guide will meet you at your hotel in Hanoi to start your motorbike journey to Mai Chau. We take scenic dyke roads to avoid the busy city traffic, heading toward the peaceful countryside. Often called the “hidden sister of Sapa,” Mai Chau shares the beauty of terraced rice paddies and ethnic culture but is much closer to Hanoi.
After lunch in Hoa Binh Province, we continue riding and conquer Thung Khe Pass, one of northern Vietnam’s most picturesque mountain passes. The winding roads and panoramic views along the way promise an exciting ride before descending into the lush Mai Chau Valley.
Later in the afternoon, our guide will take you on a ride to explore deeper into remote villages, where you can discover local traditions and the daily life of Thai ethnic communities while passing endless rice fields and limestone outcrops.
Dinner will feature authentic local dishes, followed by a traditional music performance where you’re invited to join the dance and taste rice wine with the villagers. Tonight, you will stay in a stilt house, experiencing the warmth of Thai family hospitality.

Day 2: Mai Chau - Ta Xua Motorbike Tours
Today, you’ll have a relaxed start, with time for a short walk around the village to catch glimpses of daily life. You might see local women weaving on looms beneath stilt houses, children heading to school, or farmers tending their fields as the morning mist lifts from the valley.
After breakfast, we bid farewell to Mai Chau and ride toward Moc Chau, a highland town known for its vast tea plantations and Vietnam’s pioneering dairy industry, which began with Australian support in the late 1970s. We stop here for lunch and a quick break before continuing our journey.
From Moc Chau, we ride along QL43 for about 10 km before heading north toward the Van Yen ferry crossing over the Da River. The quiet, winding roads through hills and valleys make this section particularly scenic and peaceful. After crossing the river, we continue riding north to QL37, then head west toward Ta Xua Nature Reserve.
Riding up to Ta Xua Peak, at 2,600 meters above sea level, feels like stepping into the clouds. It’s the perfect place to pause and take in the panoramic mountain views, capturing a moment of calm after the winding roads. This route, from Moc Chau’s hills down to the Da River and up to the cloud-hugging peaks of Ta Xua, is one of the hidden gems of your northern Vietnam motorbike adventure.

Day 3: Ta Xua - Hanoi
Early risers will be rewarded this morning with the breathtaking “sea of clouds” that Ta Xua is famous for. After breakfast, we begin the final day of your Ta Xua motorbike adventure with an early ride, tackling the legendary “dinosaur’s backbone” ridge. Riding along this narrow, rugged trail with clouds rolling below and green valleys stretching into the distance is an unforgettable way to experience the raw beauty of northern Vietnam.
Next, we take on one of northern Vietnam’s most challenging off-road sections, often referred to as a “riders’ graveyard.” This 35 km stretch of rocky, bumpy dirt roads will test your skills and add a memorable highlight to your off-road motorbike journey.
After the morning adventure, we begin our ride back to Hanoi, aiming to arrive in the early afternoon to avoid the rush hour traffic. The tour is expected to finish around 4 p.m. at our office, marking the end of your short yet epic Ta Xua motorbike tour.
