Day 1: Hanoi – Ninh Binh – Pu Luong

After breakfast, we ride south toward Ninh Binh, our first gateway to northern Vietnam’s scenic wonders. We stop at the breathtaking Tam Coc, a recent UNESCO World Heritage addition, often called the “Halong Bay on land” for its limestone karsts rising above rice paddies. Here, we board rowboats for a two-hour journey through caves and along serene waterways, passing local villages and the lush countryside of the Red River Delta.
After lunch, we continue riding toward Pu Luong Nature Reserve. This ride takes us along winding roads through vibrant green valleys and terraced hills, offering a taste of rural Vietnam’s beauty. After breakfast, we hop back on our bikes and continue riding toward the Moc Chau plateau. Our first major stop is the beautiful Thung Khe Pass, where you can soak in sweeping panoramic views over misty mountains and lush valleys. It’s the perfect spot for a quick stretch and memorable photos, so ensure your camera is fully charged.
We continue riding and stop for lunch near the picturesque Hua Tat Pass, where cool mountain breezes and scenic surroundings make for a relaxing break. We then continue to the quiet town of Phu Tho, where we stop for a local lunch to recharge before heading toward the delta plains. This region is the heart of northern Vietnam’s agriculture, especially lively during harvest season with rice fields and farmers at work.
Crossing the Black River via a bridge, we continue our ride through Son Tay before returning to Hanoi via the highway. We aim to arrive in Hanoi before rush hour to ensure a smooth finish to your Vietnam motorbike adventure.
