Sapa Motorbike Tour 5 Days: Visit historic Dien Bien Phu - One Way

You will meet our local guide at your hotel in Hanoi, after which we will drive along scenic dyke roads towards Mai Chau to avoid heavy traffic. Often called The "hidden sister" of SaPa, Mai Chau has similar qualities but is so much closer to Hanoi. Our guide will take you on another ride to get deeper into other remote villages to learn more about their culture, traditions as well as lifestyles of the people, passing endless paddy fields punctuated by limestone karst scenery.
After lunch in Hoa Binh Province, we conquer Thung Khe, one of North Vietnam's most stunning mountain passes, before descending to the mountain valley village of Mai Chau. Your dinner will be served with traditional cuisine. You are welcomed to a traditional music performance where you can dance and taste special liquors (rice wine) with the locals. You will spend the night in a Thai-style stilt house.

Refreshing day 2 of the tour with an exhilarating ride towards the Northwest, we will delve into the captivating history of the forgotten French trail from the Indochina War era. From Mai Chau, we start the second day of the tour by running a further 60 km to reach the most expansive and dreamiest plateau of the Northern mountainous region, Moc Chau.
After lunch in Moc Chau, we will tackle the famous historical Route No. 6. This round is a true adventure with some dirt tracks that test our riding skills as we navigate small streams and rivers in local villages inhabited by various minority peoples. The ride continues through rolling hills until we ascend to the cooler Son La plateau, renowned for its dairy farming. In the late afternoon, we'll reach Son La City, where you can relax and recharge with dinner and a comfortable night at a hotel.

Today will be the historic ride and mostly downhill. Firstly, our route takes us to the base of the lengthy and steep Pha Din Pass. The Pha Din Pass was how the Vietnamese revolutionaries brought all their guns and artillery to Dien Bien Phu, the site of the climactic confrontation of the First Indochina War. Its highest point is around 1,100 meters above sea level, and it offers an almost panoramic view of the surrounding countryside before descending on a steep, paved path.
After lunch, we will head toward Dien Bien Phu. We will continue on the good road; the ride is even more enjoyable in beautiful nature. Here you spend the night in a hotel. You will be able to take a walk to a nearby market to stretch your legs.

In the morning, we will enjoy our last hours here in Dien Bien Phu, the heroic echoes of history town. The globe-shaking victory of the Dien Bien Phu battle was a glorious milestone for the entire Vietnamese Party, army, and people in the resistance war against the French colonialists.
Today will be the longest ride and mostly downhill. We’ll keep riding our motorbikes on pump zigzag roads to the village of Sin Ho. Today's road weaves through the picturesque Da River valley, past many small villages of Red and White Hmong, Kho Mu, and White Thai ethnic minorities. The sound of the river running below will follow you along the ride until you reach Muong Lay in the early afternoon. Afterward, we will descend into Lai Chau Province. The province is home to a number of minority people, the most unusual of which are the Khang, the Lao, and the Lu people. Have dinner with specialties of the North-West and stay overnight in a hotel.

Our next adventurous ride takes us to Sapa, considered by the French as the Summer Capital of the 20th Century. Kick off our journey with a day of hardcore off-road trails. There is plenty to amuse the eye on the journey from Sapa, from the striking limestone mountains that reach into the clouds to the waterfalls and villages sprinkled throughout the valley. As we move higher into the hills, the mountains unfold before us, and the views become more and more impressive as we ascend the O Quy Ho Pass at 2000 meters above sea level, with Fansipan in the backdrop, before descending into Sa Pa town. Here's your chance to indulge in that burger or pizza you crave. We stay overnight here in a hotel.
